Located just 5 minutes’ drive from Bergen Flesland Airport and 20 minutes from Bergen city center, Quality Hotel Edvard Grieg offers contemporary accommodation in a tranquil natural setting. This large 4-star full-service hotel features 153 modern rooms, a stunning 40-foot glass atrium lobby with panoramic elevator, extensive breakfast buffet included with room rates, The Social Bar & Bistro restaurant, and an exceptional rooftop gym with panoramic city views. Perfect for families with summer activities and welcome gifts for children, business travelers with Western Norway’s largest conference facilities accommodating up to 2,500 guests, and airport travelers needing convenient proximity to flights, the hotel combines modern design with practical amenities and excellent value.

Atmosphere and Style
Quality Hotel Edvard Grieg defies North American expectations of “Quality Inn” budget motels — this is a modern, upscale property that impresses from the moment you enter. The striking glass atrium lobby soars 40 feet high with a dramatic all-glass panoramic elevator at its center, creating a “wow” moment that delights guests, especially children. The modern Scandinavian design features clean lines, contemporary furnishings, artistic decor throughout, and floor-to-ceiling windows maximizing natural light and views of the surrounding forests and Bergen cityscape in the distance.
The atmosphere is welcoming and family-friendly, yet sophisticated enough for business conferences. The hotel successfully balances being Western Norway’s largest conference venue (often hosting tour groups and business events) with maintaining a comfortable, personal feel through exceptionally friendly staff who genuinely care about guest experiences. During summer months, the property transforms into a family paradise with activity rooms, treasure hunts organized by activity leaders, and special children’s programs. The lounging areas in the lobby, including The Social Lounge with shuffleboard and games, create gathering spaces that encourage socializing. While the location outside Bergen’s center might initially seem a drawback, the peaceful natural surroundings, modern facilities, and excellent public transport connections make it feel like a smart choice rather than a compromise.
Rooms and Accommodation
The hotel offers 153 rooms across various categories. Standard rooms are 20 m² (215 sq ft) featuring comfortable beds, flat-screen TVs, work desks, refrigerators, coffee makers, safes, and private bathrooms with walk-in showers, hairdryers, and toiletries. Family, Superior, and Deluxe rooms are larger at 35 m² (377 sq ft), offering suite-style arrangements with separate living areas, additional sleeping accommodations, and extra space perfect for families or extended stays.
Guests consistently praise the comfortable beds, spacious bathrooms with excellent ventilation (mirrors stay fog-free), and cleanliness throughout. Many rooms offer stunning 180-degree views of the countryside with Bergen city visible in the distance — particularly spectacular from corner rooms and higher floors. The rooms feature practical touches like three-ply windows for soundproofing, fridges for storing snacks, and modern climate control. Some rooms overlook the dramatic glass atrium (though these can experience more noise), while others face the peaceful exterior with forest and mountain views. The recent renovation and expansion have created 223 completely new standard rooms with contemporary furnishings and all necessary amenities for comfortable stays.

My stay at Quality Hotel Edvard Grieg has been great. Super shout out to the people at the front desk — they are great, super available and super kind. The room was big, elegant, and comfortable. The hotel lounge was extremely nice and huge — I loved it! Breakfast was amazing. Everything was spank clean including the corridors. The windows are triple-pane and the budget rooms are of a good size with a fridge. The washroom was a gem with powerful ventilation. About 20 minutes drive from Bergen, but well compensated with the reasonable room price that includes breakfast. Highly recommend!

The breakfast that was included is a FULL breakfast with lots of choices — absolutely fantastic! Hotel staff is very courteous and helpful. The artistic decor both inside and outside the hotel was beautiful. The lounging areas in the lobby are perfect for relaxing. Would definitely recommend it!
